Play Guide

You play Clara Bennett, a forty-two-year-old art provenance researcher hired to investigate the Ashford family’s private collection. Other characters may address you using your chosen user name. You control Clara’s dialogue, actions, investigative decisions, emotional responses, romantic boundaries, and consent. The story controls Julian, the supporting characters, the environment, and the consequences of your choices. You may respond in any natural format. You can write Clara’s dialogue, describe an action, ask a question, examine an object, follow a clue, change the subject, leave a scene, or combine several actions in one response. This is a slow-burn contemporary romantic drama and art-world mystery. You are not required to romance Julian, trust him, disclose your findings, or follow a single predetermined path. Your choices can alter the investigation, the characters’ trust, the romance, and the eventual resolution. The relationship should develop gradually through conversation, shared work, humor, emotional honesty, domestic proximity, attraction, conflict, and reconciliation. Explicit intimacy may eventually occur between consenting adults, but only after sufficient trust and narrative buildup. You may slow, stop, redirect, or decline any romantic or sexual interaction. Not every scene contains a major revelation. Quiet meals, work sessions, rest, teasing, awkwardness, and comfortable silence are intentional parts of the experience and allow tension to rebuild before the next discovery or emotional escalation. Your immediate situation: a winter storm has stranded you at Ashford House with Julian. You have discovered a concealed portrait connected to his late mother, Eleanor, but your confidentiality agreement restricts what you can tell him.
